Meeting notes:
Dave, Peter and myself had quite a time at Akasaka Japanese Restaurant. Discussions weren’t quite on the mark but we had a fun meeting none the less.
The hot topic was basically what has versus what hasn’t been imported over and what was or wasn’t destroyed by bad translations and such.
Hopefully attendance will shine for our next meeting… I’m hoping to have it either at Old Chicago or … a place of our members choice.
Note for the future:
Folks, let’s keep to the topic in which we got together about shall we? I realize there are gamers in this group but if you want to discuss the latest online RPG then please do it outside of the formal meeting.
If you want more or better variety of activities send a suggestion to our email address.
Note for all other readers:
Please submit any URL’s pertaining to your group (anime, Dr. Who, Harry Potter, etc.) to this address so we can add it to our URL list at the end of the newsletter as we like to keep all our friends and associates aware of such wonderful organizations ~
Thanks in advance/Arigato Gozaimasu

Hirimoshi High Jinks! The Next Class in Session: “So this is class?” Jennifer Hokimoto waited for her mother outside of her office as principle of Hirimoshi High School. Her mom was lecturing, yet again, young Raven Arigoshi - Meowaruu for setting off the sprinklers in P.E. class. Jennifer knew Raven from their pre-school days at Minimoto Junior Academy. She was a quiet girl along with her twin sister Ayka until they started hanging out with a couple of underclassmen. It was third grade and Jen remembered it like it was yesterday… Young Kimiko Kuul and her cousin Sye Kumichi were just getting through bragging about their older siblings who were going to another school across town when Jen noticed Raven and Ayka listening in on them. Well, after introductions and much scheming, a week later all four were in the principle’s office for scaring a young boy by dressing up like Shinobi and attacking him for throwing a spitball at Ayka. Ever since the foursome along with the twins brother Kyoto had been getting up to some pretty interesting adventures. Only Jen had the god sense to say no to their schemes as her mom had radar for senses it seems and her getting away with anything would be highly unlikely. Today was a really bad day considering that a new student and a new teacher were starting today and all of these shenanigans happened just before 1st period! It would seem that Raven is in charge of new students as part of the student counsel and that, as usual, she was hardly setting a very good example. She knew that the duty would fall on Jen if things went sour and that Jen would probably want something really good for being saddled with a new student, as she was saddled with a lot of responsibility already. Jennifer checked her watch and noted that she really needed to get to first class, it was home economics today, and it was her favorite. It was also her one chance to talk to Miss Ornillia Khatmus - Moro about her other favorite subject - Shinobi. There was a rumor, as Jennifer knew as she knew all the facts versus myths at High School, about a secret club of ninja that was formed to help guard the school from it’s rivals like the ones at Kinishi High School. You name the dirty trick to sabotage the competition; their rivals were more than capable of it. It was their job to make sure that they got the other school or better yet stopped the school from doing their nasty business! However… Today was a meet and greet and tour & mentor. * SIGH * She really didn’t like doing this kind of thing and her mom was not one to be denied nor ignored, she did after all head the secret ninja group and crossing her at all was just plain stupid.
Jen sees a very cute girl turn the corner and head for her, she seems a little nervous but just as she gets a few steps from the corner there is and explosion from the stare well with lots of black smoke rushing out. Three boys come around all blackened and much disoriented and fall down in a heap. The girl acts startled but some how does not pull it off to well. She walks up to Jen, “um, I’m suppose to report here for my, um, introduction. This is the right place isn’t it? Oh I’m sorry, I’m Kinnu Motoko.” She timidly holds out her hand.

Review(s): “Discussions on HP & The Deathly Hallows – an inter-group Q&A for the Meet – Up groups involved – revisited” Reviewed By Trapper 0-0~
It’s been roughly one year since the big finally that J.K. Rowling ©(t) released has made an impact on Potter fandom around the globe. Much has occurred since then and I have decided to revisit and provide my own insight to the questions I asked my fellow fans. I found it strange that none of the participants actually stopped to think to ask what my particular views were or why the questions I chose. So for more curiosity than anything else ~ here are my answers and some details
1. What was your biggest shock from the book? For me the biggest shock was how much it mirrored current events and even actions taken in the real world in response to similar scenarios. It eerily reminded me of World War 2 both prior and during. I asked this question as a curiosity to how observant people were as well as what they considered worthy of observation. The deaths of certain characters, to me at least, showed the random cruelty of war. It mirrored the idea that during such events we often hear of who dies but can’t seem to readily identify with the victims. Then again, the fact that anyone, whether well known or not, dies is still tragic as any life lost is truly shameful and horrific. This is, to me, the true tragedy of war – the faceless, nameless or not well known dead. I think Rowling © also showed how quickly such events can escalate rather quickly and that no one is immune to loss under such circumstances.
2. Who did you suspect prior to the release wouldn’t make it and were you surprised at the true results?
I felt this question was more fan service than anything else. I had read and heard much discussion on the topic so I felt that all 3 groups opinions were valid and worth hearing. As for myself, I thought Hagrid would be one of the first to be killed. How Severus Snape managed to keep him safe is beyond me considering the anti – part human sentiment going around. Ron was another candidate who came to mind as his actions pointed to a reckless death. 3. What explanation or event did you miss in the book that you felt should have been covered?
There were many answers to this. I think if you read carefully you will find Crookshanks is mentioned when Harry is at the Weasley’s prior to his leaving with Ron & Hermione (Chpt. 6 Ghoul in the Pajamas at least on page 105 -106). I felt that it centered on the characters it should have. I realise that it would have been more fun for the audience to have a three part ending with 3 – 5 times the pages and a few more details but I believe that we are meant to fill in some gaps with our imagination. The Lupin/Tonks story was a bit vague but it wasn’t the point of the book as well. We probably will get more than we bargained for with the new Potter – pedia in the works. Again it would have been nice for multiple view points but time constraints along with due dates are a bit much to overcome. If this were a weekly serial then that would be different. Novels are a bit more prickly about size and submission dates. 4. Was the ending what you had hoped for?
Yes and no. I do disagree on the ending – it was supposed to be a brief glimpse into the future and not a full fledged tale. I almost thought that Harry would sacrifice himself by giving his life in the end but not in the way that Rowling expressed it. 5. What were your guesses on the romantic couplings and did you think things could have been explained better?
Obviously this was a ‘fun’ question designed around canon and general fan interest. I thought Generva “ Ginny” Weasley was the one from the off for Harry but knew that Cho Chang would give it a go no less. Lupin & Tonks seemed to be a romance based on outsider status and the lure of May/December romances. This one could have been explained better without skipping a beat from the main. 6. Now that J.K Rowling has announced a Harry Potter Encyclopedia with fill-in-the-gap events do you feel that she will cover everything to your hearts desire?
My personal feeling on this topic is that no one will be completely satisfied. It will answer many questions that Rowling © herself has been besieged with from the off. This will probably include answers that most of the reading public won’t want as well as the ones we’re all dying to figure out. 7. Does the portrayal of Dumbledore lift or lessen your view of the greatest wizard to ever live?
This one of those questions I had to really pace about on. Considering that the beloved headmaster was outted by Rowling © a mere month (or months I can’t recall off hand) or so after the release of HP&DH as being gay I find the general response has been quite refreshingly positive. It has been mentioned that Harry now holds the mantle of greatest living wizard now that Dumbledore © is departed. However, I still feel that Albus Percival Wolfric Brian Dumbledore © shall always be the greatest – until Harry, now Voldemort free, can actually show his intellect, cleverness and versitility beyond his normal resourcefulness. 8. What was your heartbreak moment in the book?
There were many in this tale I must admit. I think what hit hardest was Dobby followed by Colin Creevey. In wartime self sacrifices like this are often found. Rowling © brings this point home with two characters that are loveable. Hedwigs death rated a close second to Dobby dying as she was a constant and yet distant background character that helped show the readers Harry'’ quality. 9. Any guesses on future writers picking up the slack or taking up the torch now the series is finally over?
This one I have no answer for as I have only just read the Golden Compass © first book of the trilogy. Coming soon online at cms.meowaruu.org Peace Out 0-0~
Editors notes:
Ah the reviews, and of course the q&a that went with those reviews. Yes I’m referring to one of the biggest issues of Anime’ – Hem: The Newsletter in ages ~ Last July’s issue. I found it odd when people from Boston would label Snape’s © romantic interest in Lilly Potter © a tad more than pathetic. The man never forgave himself for his choices and never moved on torturing himself in the process. Yes, he did take it out on poor Harry as it was a constant reminder of what should have been in his life. However, he also slowly allowed the better part of himself to the surface proving that he really was repentant for his mistake. His bravery was silent as he could not show his true self to anyone but Dumbledore © . In my view he was not pathetic at all. He was truly brave and tortured simultaneously. Harry by default is now the greatest wizard to ever live, but he never was able to truly show his academic skills due to tremendous pressure of his status, the Death Eaters ©, Snape ©, Draco Malfoy © and the Dursleys ©. He was not, repeat not a slacker as you Yanks would call him. He was also not so much impulsive as he was driven to action by the lack or apparent lack thereof by the adults in his life. That’s my two pence worth and I'm sticking to it!
