March 15 & 23, 2008
Meeting notes:
The meeting for March fifteenth drew Dave and Julia out to Panera Bread with me along North Academy Blvd. Discussion on Anime was good but attendance could have been better – work on it ladies and gents!
For the 23rd our social gathering at Baskin Robbins was a smash! Nikki and her children plus Marie, Bill and the kids showed up to join myself, Cary as well as Dave and Julia earlier on for some well deserved ice cream and conversation. I brought my Dr. Who autographs plus my book of HP TCG card rares and my near complete Dr. Who trading cards with interesting trivia plus some anime promo art give aways. Talk ranged from anime early on to our favourite time lord and points in between.
It was good to see the former head honcho of the galaxy and his first lady as well as our resident Potter group leader and her assistant organizer. Our next social gatherings will be in April and May. Date will be determined as input comes in.

We will do our best to have children’s programming but please remember none of the Club staff is responsible for what others bring. The content is the sole responsibility of the bringers. Also we are not a baby-sitting outfit! Anyone visiting the library should not just dump their kids (small children) with us ~ PLEASE!
At the beginning of the meeting, and at the lunch break I, your club librarian, will be available for q&a along with one of our intrepid club officers. If a dinner is scheduled for after the meeting ~ that will be the next best time for questions.
*Viewer's Choice can be anything brought in by anybody except Hentai or Anime Music Video's not brought by us. We do take requests though!

Chapter 3
To the future
“...So it is with heavy hearts that we commend Askari Meowaruu to your care. Please usher his spirit into the realm of his ancestors and let him know that those he left behind shall honor his memory. Let us now pray so that only good tidings send him onward...”
The high priest droned on for what seemed like forever. The Lady Tohru sat rigidly as the ceremony wound down. Not a sound could be heard from the large throng that came to put the clan lord to rest. A great white marble stone sarcophagus was brought forth and Askari placed in it. Among the throng were many clan lords and ladies who came forward to leave flowers, apologize in some cases and wish Lady Tohru and Hikaru well. One or two actually acknowledged Kyosuke and most gave their condolences to Koji and his new future bride. Within the walls of the final resting place of Askari Amellia set forth to create guardians she would call Ikahns. These creatures would be ensorcelled constructs with low intelligence demons fused within. They would obey only her, the shrine maiden who would be the caretaker of the mausoleum and, when he was awoken, Askari himself. She then erected a maze of sorts to test any who would enter to see if they would be the true members of the Meowaruu family. Only those of pure spirit and of Meowaruu blood could enter unscathed.
Kyosuke sat off in a corner during the get together afterward. No one paid him any more mind then they did at the funeral, which was both disturbing and comforting. It bothered him that they all thought so little of him despite what he achieved on his own and his education. On the other hand, he didn't envy Koji in the least. Despite the fact that he would probably never see the seat of clan lord he didn't mind. He took the opportunity to slip away as no one seemed to care.
Hikaru watched her youngest son with a pained expression as Tohru spoke with one of her counterparts from the clan Shikono. Tohru noticed her daughters look from the corner of her eye and excused herself to take a moment with her.
“All right? I've never seen you this upset before or this concerned. I know Askari meant a lot to the family...” Hikaru cut her off. “It's not that. It's painful, to be sure as it's always difficult to come to turns with the idea you'll outlive your child. However, it's Kyosuke that worries me. In all of this turmoil and chaos, have we truly done the right thing? Do we want to drive him away as we did Askari? He's stronger than we thought and he's also more sensitive as well. I think he still blames himself for Askari's death and that's a burden he should never have to shoulder. I know that Koji is a better choice for a uniting force within the counsel but why ignore Kyosuke?” Tohru stopped and thought for a moment. Her daughter was right. It was this sort of over protective attitude that made these last few days truly possible. Askari would have wanted his little brother to shoulder some responsibility and have the free choice he was denied when it came to finding a wife himself. She sighed as she realized she was repeating the Shiro incident all over again.
Meanwhile, Koji was getting tired of the hot air being fired his way by all the older politicians. Most of them wanted some special favors and a few of the old perverts wanted time with his fiancée. All in all he finally figured out what it was that Askari hated about all this. Saori had a hard time keeping a straight face. She just held tight to her future husband and drew comfort from Koji's grandmother who was also nearby and doing her best not to laugh.
Kyosuke wandered around his family garden not really paying attention too much. More than anything he simply craved the silence so he could reconcile his loss. He was wrapped up in his thoughts deeply when he nearly tripped over a woman who was sitting under a cherry tree.
She got up abruptly and apologized. He recognized her from one of his trips to the southern tip of the Nei Pon Kingdoms. It was Cylia Okaba, the daughter of one of the more influential southern clans and quite rebel in her own right. He smiled politely and apologized himself as she walked out of the shadows.
He nearly lost his breath when he got a good look at her. It would seem that when she made the effort she was quite beautiful.
She patted his back as she mistook his surprise for a coughing fit.
“Thanks! But I'll be okay. I take it you wanted a little fresh air too? To get away from the chaos in there?” She laughed and smiled sweetly at him. Now that she could see him better she finally recognized him and thought roughly of him what he thought of her. He was a lot more handsome than she thought he was. There was a pregnant pause before she answered. “ Get away? Oh, yeah. I couldn't take another minute in there. All that political stupidity was getting old. Oh, sorry about your brother. I tried to argue with my dad about sending help but the old jerk wouldn't hear it.”
She laughed derisively. “ Now he's begging for forgiveness of your grandmother! Not to mention me... like I'd ever forgive him. He's too much of a fool and he's done too much to me to get any forgiveness. I wish my elders would do to him what yours did... oh damn! I'm sorry, that was your dad I was about to mention...” Kyosuke raised his hand and smiled. “No offense taken. Really, Askari was ready to and tried to kill him more than once. I sort of doubted he was our dad considering how we turned out and how much of a coward and idiot he was. It seems to be some kind of disease as of late. I'm thinking of doing what Askari did a few years ago except not coming back no matter what...” His voice trailed as it hit him fairly hard again. All the guilt and hard feelings. Cylia put an arm around him as Tohru happened to see the two of them together. She stopped as a small tear ran down her cheek. She could have sworn for a moment that she was seeing Askari and Sasuki Motoko again when they were younger. She nodded quietly to herself as she drew away from the young couple vowing this time she would let nature take its course and not involve anyone else. As she walked away she noticed she wasn't the only one who saw what transpired. Sasuki came for one final word with the family before she left for Imajca. The women’s eyes met and there was a silent understanding. Sasuki walked over to the matriarch and the two hugged. Tohru spoke first. “ I'm very sorry. I blame myself mainly for all this. I know I can't change the past...” Sasuki silenced her with a look. “It's all right. Shiro was fast on his feet and time made fools of us both before we could even think of trying. Don't blame yourself, I've tried. It doesn't work and it changes nothing. My best to Kyosuke and his future as well as Koji and Saori. Take care, visit me in Imajca when you can.” She smiled at Tohru and left so quickly it seemed like she teleported away.
Tohru looked back at the two young royals and noticed they were now walking arm in arm towards the old veranda that lead to where her husband Hikage first courted her. She decided to speak to Kyosuke later on after the social event.
In the days to follow Askari's son would be quite withdrawn and quiet. The only time he would make any significant noise was when he was forced to walk near the weapons museum. He would cry and scream and run at the sight of the swords and the armor that lay in cases for all to see. Hiro, as he would prefer to be called by his first name, in later years would almost be an unreasoning pacifist.
Kyosuke and Cylia would, after some time start formal dating and later would run off to visit Amellia and get married away from home. Hiro would be the next clan lord as his uncle would be taking the post as his wife's family patriarch.
Koji would not reconcile with his parents and in the end they would abandon their clan along with Koji's siblings and never be seen again. It was rumored that they settled in to the northern territories realm of Nolon Gold the renowned entrepreneur and wind up indentured servants to him for outstanding debts. Koji and Saori would be married by Koji's grandmother and after a few months he would discover the truth about how his brother died.
It turned out that the true assassin would make her death bed confession to a priestess named Rei. Saori would give birth a short time later to a daughter they would name Sakura Saori Meowaro. Koji and Saori vanished two years later during a border dispute with the clan Hokimoto under dubious circumstances. No one is sure of the exact events nor has anyone ever discovered how they disappeared. Sakura would be raised by both Tohru Meowaruu and Koji's grandparents.
Sasuki started a training school in which both Kyosuke and Tohru along with Amellia would finance. She would also learn magic under the great sorceress and discover the secret to long life.
The clans would not be united for at least another 50 years and the truces and pacts would be tentative at best and another 50 years after before anyone would see the sign of the Dragon Star or any hope of fulfilling Askari's dream of a united kingdom. War between old rivals and blood feuds would deepen and reach a violent climax before the birth of Oushi Meowaruu and his cousin Himura Meowaro.

The newest and hopefully last incarnation of the A.N.I.M.E. Website. It is still a work in progress and we are still seeking a new mascot and some input for other projects.
